Merry Christmas: Let Santa choose your gift!
Once upon a time twins Amy & Anthony were two lucky kids chosen to go and meet Santa Claus himself at the North Pole. Never in their wildest dreams could they have imagined this marvellous opportunity and both were excitedly waiting to see that loveable red figure who secretly brought them gifts every Christmas but never showed them his face.
When the moment finally arrived, Amy & Anthony were welcomed in to a big hall by some elves who said : “Santa Claus is very busy. You will only be able to meet him for a short while, so make the most of this divine moment”. Amy & Anthony were rehearsing in their minds what they will say to Santa Clause when he appears. But they forgot everything when the hall began to fill in with lights and colors.Santa Claus appeared on a big chair with a large desk in front of him full of toys the twins had ever wanted. While Amy went to hug Santa Claus, Anthony went running to the bicycle he had always dreamed of having. Santa was there only for few seconds, just enough for Amy to say thank you and for her to feel the happiest girl in the world and Santa disappeared before Anthony had even looked at him. Anthony felt terrible and realized he had wasted his great fortune and a divine blessing by looking at toys first instead of meeting Santa.
He cried a lot but from that day onwards every time Anthony saw a toy & felt excitement of receiving a present, he instantly looked around to see if he is missing anything which is more significant than the toy. And in this way he started seeing sad eyes of underprivileged poor children whose greatest gift would be a piece of bread or the suffering of others who were lonely and gone for years without a hug or hearing “I love you”. Unlike that night at the north pole when he had chosen the wrong thing, Anthony learned to go in the right direction helping those who had nothing, giving love to those who never received it and putting smiles on the faces of unhappy souls.
And one Christmas while he was sleeping he felt a tight warm hug. Anthony opened his eyes and saw a long white beard & a soft red suit and he sank in to a big warm embrace. Anthony said: “Santa please forgive me I didn’t know how to choose what was most important”. Santa with full of love and care in his eyes answered with a smile : “Forget that. Tonight it was me who had to choose and I chose to spend some time with the best boy in the world, just before I leave you a great gift that you have earned for yourself. Thank you”. The next morning there were no presents under the Christmas tree. That Christmas the gift had been so big that it couldn’t fit anywhere but in Anthony’s heart – the gift of eternal unconditional love for Anthony for the life time that he could multiply just by sharing it with others.
This Christmas determine to always always earn your gift and let God, our Santa Claus, choose for you every single time. Let Him choose what work of His you do, how many lives you impact, how much joy you get from giving, who comes in your life, who stays in your life, who goes away from your life and various such changes & happenings in your life. All you have to do is surrender and cherish to the infinite unending love of God and experience the joy of loving Him back.
Thy will be done O Lord Thy will be done – I am ready to receive with an open mind and open heart all the gifts and blessings of life you have for me and share your unconditional overflowing love and care with everyone I meet so that such divine love multiplies and reaches the universe.
Merry Christmas! Enjoy the gifts that Santa has chosen for you!
